Since American Sign Language is not a spoken language, you will never have to yell over music or your friends to be heard. Even if you’re not fluent, you can learn and teach some basic signs to help each other out at concerts or in large crowds! The simplest signs can help create immediate understanding between two people. For example, why bother screaming to your friend that you need to go to the bathroom when you could sign it and be understood without a single problem? If you don’t want to be the only one talking in a silent lecture, signing is a great option in that situation too! It simply cannot be too loud or too quiet to sign.
