During this 6-week online sign language class, Miss Zyafirah will work with you to build on your ASL fundamentals. Taking this continuing ASL class will help you:
- Continue your learning if you’ve taken a class with us before
- Appreciate a immersive and synchronous learning experience
- Get your hands back up and moving if you’ve fallen out of practice
As a continuation from the beginning class, you’ll learn to apply the skills you already have to storytelling and conversations. There will be a focus on reinforcing basic ASL vocabulary and grammar appropriate for multiple settings.
COVID-19 may have stopped Visually Speaking from teaching classes in person, but now you can learn American Sign Language from a Deaf Drag Queen in the comfort of your own home. These online classes have a maximum class size of 8 students, which provides a more hands-on learning experience compared to a larger group. Miss Zyafirah’s online classes let you benefit from the Deaf community’s 20+ year reliance on videophones and videoconferencing technology. Learning ASL through online tools is a great way to become familiar with the Deaf community’s cultural practices of existing in a digital world.
Growing your fluency in American Sign Language is a great way to increase diversity awareness, grow your cultural perspectives, and prepare for meeting Deaf people. This class will show you that learning ASL isn’t as difficult as it seems, it can be fun!
